Australia's World-Class Wines

Australia's wine industry, a mixture of Old World wine-making customs
and New World innovative daring, have produced many world-class
vintages. Among them are Hencschke's Hill of Grace and ount Edelstone,
Lindemans St. George and Limestone Ridge, Mount Mary's Cabernets and
Chardonnays, Penfolds Grange and Limited Bin Reds, and Wynns John
Riddoch and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This must come as no surprise, for Australia's vast regions and their
varying weather conditions and geographical locations serve as home to
thousands of vineyards and wineries. These are scattered over about 60
wine regions recognized by Australian laws throughout the country, from
Hunter Valley to Mornington Peninsula to Adelaide Hills.

Adelaide Hills is part of the premier wine state South Australia, which
also boasts of the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, Fleuriue Peninsula, Eden
Valley, Limestone Coast, McLaren Valley, Padthaway, and the Upper
Murray. Yarra Valley in Victoria has some of the country's most popular
wineries which, along with the region's gorgeous scenery, attract many
visitors and tourists. Margaret River in Western Australia has achieved
international fame with its great wines, an exciting surf beach and
flavorful cuisine. New South Wales has Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Sydney
as its very own wine regions.
With nearly two centuries of viticulture and wine production, Australia
has had a long time to perfect the quality of their wines and to produce
enough quantity for international markets. With the country's rich
variety of topographies, weather and natural flora, Australia's wines
have become quite distinctive and highly sought-after because they are
not quite like any other in the world.
